Pavliani is built at 1,050 altitude, on a ridge of Oiti, almost at the entrance of the Oiti National Park and is divided into Kato and Ano Pavliani, which are about 2 km apart.
Kato Pavliani is the first settlement you will come across after the village of Oiti with picturesque stone guesthouses and a beautiful square with a playground.
In Ano Pavliani, the bell tower of the church of Agios Athanasios with its wood-carved iconostasis, dating from 1868, has a particularly enviable staircase, made of stone-steps, which one steps on the other and as they climb, form a narrow cylinder reaching high up, where the spire is. The stone-built Primary School stands firm, a worthy monument of traditional architecture and the central square in front of the church is shaded by the giant sycamore tree. From the benches of the square we can enjoy the excellent view of Maliakos Gulf.
